Membership

Successful applicants to the CMA Qualifying Program become members of CMABC by working through the four accreditation steps leading to the CMA designation. During the accreditation process, members are either CMA students or CMA candidates. CMA student members are either in the CMA Qualifying Program or at the CMA National Entrance Exam stage of the accreditation process. Once CMA Student members pass the national entrance exam, they become CMA candidate members in the CMA Strategic Leadership Program.

When they graduate from this program, they are CMAs who retain that professional designation by maintaining annual professional membership at CMA Canada - British Columbia.

What is a CMA?
Certified Management Accountants (CMAs) provide strategic business advice and are able to back up their recommendations with supporting rationale. Ultimately they are decision-makers who lead successful enterprises.

How to Become A CMA - Three Accreditation Steps to the CMA designation
There are a number of steps to achieve the CMA designation. These steps are the result of extensive consultation, particularly with employers, academia and other stakeholders to ensure our accreditation process includes topic areas that are relevant to what the marketplace needs and test the integrative and technical skills of those seeking to become CMAs.

Step 1 - CMA Qualifying Program
To gain a solid foundation in technical accounting and management concepts, courses through one of these paths:

     Path 1 - CMA FastTrack Program
     Path 2 - Post-secondary Institutions
     Path 3 - CMA Accredited University Program

Step 2 - CMA National Entrance Exam
Write and pass the CMA National Entrance Exam in order to qualify as a CMA candidate.

Step 3 - CMA Strategic Leadership Program
The CMA Strategic Leadership Program is a part-time accreditation program completed over two years, concurrent with 24 months of full time practical experience. For more information on the CMA Strategic Leadership Program.
