I am a BC Non-Business Student
If you are completing or have completed a degree in a non-business or commerce program, you can still
pursue the Certified Management Accountant designation and may be eligible for advanced standing
exemptions.
The diagram below outlines the steps to take in order to attain your CMA designation. Two pathways are
available to qualify you to write the CMA Entrance Exam:

Complete your undergraduate degree and then complete all 16 individual required
courses through a college or university course-by-course. You may receive advanced standing credit for some
of these courses. Consult the CMA Advanced Standing

Complete your undergraduate degree and register for the CMA
Accelerated Program. This program is designed to prepare you to challenge the CMA National Entrance Exam.
This intense and demanding 9-month part-time program enables you to challenge the CMA National Entrance Exam
in less than one year. You can continue to work while taking the program or you can devote your energies to
it full-time.
There are four prerequisite courses you will need to complete prior to registering for the CMA Accelerated
Program:
Economics *
Quantitative Methods *
Introductory Financial Accounting **
Introductory Management Accounting **
* Can be completed through self-study modules available through CMA British Columbia
** Can be completed through CMA QuickStart

After completing the CMA Accelerated Program, you will be eligible
to write the CMA Entrance Exam.
Students must achieve a mark of 60% or higher on the exam to proceed into the Strategic Leadership
Program.

Complete the CMA Strategic Leadership Program (SLP). The SLP is the
cornerstone of the accreditation process and sets the CMA apart from other business professionals. For

Upon completion of all components of the CMA Strategic Leadership program (including work experience) you
will be eligible to receive the CMA designation. |
