Program Overview
At the heart of the program is a CMA Bridge course that will cover the following CMA Syllabus topics over
a 5 week period:
- Human Resources (Organizational Behavior)
- Marketing
- Operations Management
- Strategic Management
A Simulation Series for the Entrance Exam is also included, and payment/enrollment occurs as part of the
Entrance Exam registration process. The Simulation Series is held over two Saturdays at Langara College,
beginning in May for the June Entrance Exam and in late September for the October Entrance Exam.
A Review Series is also available as preparation for the Entrance Exam: this is optional for DAP Bridging
Program students but is recommended.
In addition, an approved Advanced Management Accounting course must be completed prior to writing the CMA
National Entrance Exam. Those unable to complete the course through UBC (BUSI 454 or COMM 454) may take an
equivalent elsewhere before or concurrent with the CMA Bridge course (Athabasca University and Thompson
Rivers University offer distance education courses starting throughout the year that can be completed at an
accelerated pace). Course equivalents at other colleges and universities may be identified by referring to
our Advanced Standing Guide.
Prerequisites
The requirements for enrolling in the CMA Bridge Program are as follows:
- Completion of a recognized university degree.
- Completion of the UBC Diploma of Accounting Program (those in their final term of DAP may also apply, but
the following courses must be completed by the end of the month in which the CMA Bridge starts).
- A minimum grade of 60% must be achieved in the following courses:
- Introductory Financial Accounting (BUS 293)
- Intermediate Financial Accounting (BUS 353 and 450)
- Advanced Financial Accounting (BUS 453)
- Introductory Management Accounting (BUS 294)
- Intermediate Management Accounting (BUS 354)*
- Tax (BUS 355)
- Corporate Finance (BUS 370)
- Information Technology (BUS 335)
- Internal Control & Audit (BUS 455)
- Completion of or concurrent enrollment in an Advanced Management Accounting course. *As this course must
be completed (with a minimum mark of “C” or 60%) at least 3 weeks prior to the CMA National Entrance Exam, it
is strongly recommended that the BUSI 354 prerequisite be completed before the last term of DAP. If
necessary, it may be possible to complete a self-paced distance course in a compressed time frame immediately
following the completion of BUSI 354 classes.
- Introductory Micro/Macro Economics and Quantitative Methods (Statistics) courses (with minimum marks of
“C” or 60%). Many students will have completed acceptable courses as part of their undergraduate degree prior
to enrolling in DAP. For information on approved courses, please see the Advanced Standing Guide or contact winston@cmabc.com. If still required at the completion of DAP, alternative self-study material
for Economics and/or Quantitative Methods (Statistics) can be obtained from CMABC (please complete and return
the Self-Study Material Order Form).
