Strategic Leadership Program

Practical Experience Requirements

As the program is designed for candidates to bring real workplace situations to the discussion and take the new ideas and viewpoints back to their organizations, candidates are expected to be continuously employed throughout the two-year program.

Candidates are required to complete a minimum of 12 months relevant work experience, concurrent to their enrolment in the Strategic Leadership Program. To meet the work experience requirements, candidates must have 24 months of progressive, relevant work experience that meets the required competencies. Candidates in the program work in a wide variety of positions and industries; there is no requirement that a specific position or title be attained. However, candidates will need to be working in a relevant position that deals with financial data, and must be able to meet the required competencies by the end of the 24 month period. Please see the SLP practical experience requirements for details.

To fully benefit from session discussions and to be able to apply program concepts to the candidate’s place of employment, it is expected that candidates be employed in a position that includes financial analysis and making recommendations for managerial decision-making purposes.

Current candidates can find detailed information pertaining to practical experience and all required reporting forms under the Reference Material section of the CMA Canada Professional Programs (CPP) website.
