For non-profit organizations, special interest groups and companies in British Columbia, CMABC will post volunteer opportunities on this page at no charge. Listings will remain here until 30 days after the posting date or until the application deadline has expired. New postings will go live every Friday by 12:00 pm.

Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST) - Treasurer
The Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (SCWIST) is a financially-stable charitable organization based in Vancouver, BC. SCWIST enhances the lives of women and girls in science by offering networking and professional development events for women and inspiring workshops for girls.
SCWIST’s mission is to promote, encourage, and empower women working in science and technology.
We are looking to recruit a treasurer for our 2008-09 board of directors.
The treasurer will work with the paid bookkeeper to oversee the finances of the $90K organization. The treasurer is responsible for preparing and presenting monthly financial reports, verifying financial reporting to external organizations, and creating clear processes for the organization’s continued financial health. The treasurer invests 10-15 hours/month preparing the financials, answering questions from other board members and SCWIST staff, and reporting to external organizations.
The time committment is at least 1 year (June 18, 2008 to AGM 2009) – expect
10-15 hours/month. Monthly board meetings are held in person in downtown Vancouver and remotely via WebEx (web-teleconference).

Junior Achievement of British Columbia (JABC) -
Business consultant/classroom facilitator
Junior Achievement of British Columbia (JABC) is a non-profit organization delivering business education to students from Grade 3 to 12. We are now looking for business volunteers to facilitate activities and discussions based on our curriculum, and share their experiences with students. Program materials and orientation will be provided in advance. Program takes place during school hours.
Time commitment: |
Varies from four one-hour visits to a half-day program. |

Business education, financial literacy, career and personal planning. |

CMA Vancouver Chapter
The Vancouver Chapter provides Professional Development and Social Events for designated and student members that reside in the Lower Mainland and as far as Hope, BC.
We are seeking members who are interested in helping out to lead or be a part of a team that coordinates PD and Social events. The time commitment is one meeting per month and your involvement can range from as much or as little as you want. For those wanting to take on a larger role, we have positions available in Marketing, Social and the Professional Development Committee.

CMA BC is making strides to further connect with high school students that are interested in a business / accounting career. Once again CMAs are being invited to speak with students in grades 11 and 12 at the following high schools about the CMA designation, the members, the career prospects, and the program. An Afternoon with a CMA
Certified Management Accountants of BC has begun holding “Afternoon with a CMA” office visits at CMA and CMA Candidate workplaces across the Province.
We’ve held “Afternoon with a CMA” office visits at Philips, Hager & North Investment Management, Intrawest, Lululemon Athletica, Best Buy Canada, HSBC and plan to hold visits at BC Ferry Services Inc. and the Province of BC in the near future. Hosted by the CMA or CMA Candidate, university and college students are invited to learn about the company, the various career opportunities available for undergraduate students in accounting, finance and business, and the benefits of having a CMA designation.
We would like to invite you to hold a 1 – 2 hour “Afternoon with a CMA” session at your workplace to help demonstrate to students the value of the CMA designation.
The number of students attending the office visit depends on how many students your workspace can accommodate .

CMA Mentorship Opportunity
CMA BC is introducing a Mentor Program that is designed to connect undergraduate university and college students with CMA and CMA Candidates.
