CMA Vancouver Chapter Golf Tournament

Mark your calendars for the upcoming golf tournament on Monday, August 11, 2008 at the University Golf Club.  This year will be bigger, better and even more fun.  So bring your friends, colleagues and clients for a great day of networking and golf in the sun.  Beginners to advanced golfers are welcome to join.  More details will follow, but if you would like to pre-register or would like to sponsor, please contact Diane Chung (dchung@fasken.com) or Diane Kerley (dkerley@aplin.com).

Vancouver Coffee and Muffins Networking Event
Networking in a casual setting…

Please join your fellow CMA Vancouver Chapter member Stewart Marshall and others for an informal breakfast of coffee, muffins and conversation. Come along between 7:45 am and 9:00 am and grab a coffee and muffin with other CMA members. This is a great way to meet some new members or to stay in touch with members you already know.

2008 Sun Run Team CMA Members - April 15, 2008

Nice going to all Team CMA runners who participated in this year's annual Sun Run.

We had a very respectable finish in our team placement in the Legal and Accounting category. We finished at 20th place in our category ahead of teams from Bull Housser & Tupper, Fasken Martineau and Harper Grey Easton law firms.

Our combined time was 9:08:30 for the top 10 runners.

For those of you who were unable to pick up your tech shirts they are available at the downtown office of Allwest Reporting 12th Floor, 1125 Howe Street,  in Rob Pellatt's office and have been separated into Men/Women and sizes S/M/L shirts. They can be claimed during normal business hours and if you phone first (Rob at 604-683-4774)  with the size that is needed, they can be put out at the reception area  for you.

Strategic and holistic leadership in the 21st century
April 16, 2008

Thanks to everyone who came out for the session on ‘Strategic and holistic leadership in the 21st century’ at the head office of Visible Strategies on Wednesday, April 16th. By all accounts it was a very informative event and our speaker, Colin Grant, did not disappoint. Colin walked us through the rise and fall of traditional business models over the past two centuries. He highlighted how the 21st century is quickly developing into the “environmental excellence” era, requiring every organization to take a more holistic approach to how they manage their affairs moving forward. This led us into a discussion around climate change, identifying some of the environmental drivers and communities of practice, what impacts consumer ‘greening’ demands are already having, and how these will dictate the way companies will have to act in the future. It was widely felt, with everyone in attendance, that CMA’s can lead this type of change and that we are in an excellent position to help develop broader performance measures to monitor our organization’s success.

This event was organized by Van Chapter Board member Michael Brown.

CMA British Columbia and Vancouver Chapter Annual Charity Golf Classic

On May 9th, CMABC and the Vancouver Chapter held its 9th annual golf tournament at the Newlands Golf & Country Club.

The hard work and planning by the organizing committee made this sunny day a great success. Thanks go out to:

The day was capped off with a fabulous dinner prepared by the catering crew at the club. The generous contributions of the sponsors allowed for everyone to take something home as a reward for the hard work on the course.

Net proceeds of the event and 50/50 Draw funds totaling $545 went to the Cystic Fibrosis Society.
